+The budget outlay for education and training has been steadily rising in recent years, from 15.1% in 2001 to 18% in 2005; 19%, or VND55 trillion (US$3.5 million), is likely to be earmarked for next year.
These are enormous sums considering Vietnam’s budgetary deficit.
Encouraging private investment in education, in the form of seeking donations from students and developing semi-public schools, could thus ease the pressure on public finances.
